Cedric Ellis
Cedric
B. Ellis gew up in the Hollywood subdivision of Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1984
he graduated from Woodlawn High School. He received a basketball scholarship and
went on to further his education at Cisco Junior College and leter attended Centenary
College. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education and
soon began teaching and coaching at Southwood High School in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Ellis was later named head basketball coach at Berwick High School in Berwick,
Louisiana. After returning home, he was named head basketball coach at Southern
University in Shreveport.
After resigning from SUSBO, Ellis was named Player/Assistant Coach
of the Shreveport Crawdads/Storm of the Continental Basketball Association. He
played professional basketball in South America for Team Avia of Santiago, Chile.
This experience allowed Ellis the opportunity to tour Chile, Brazil, and Venezuela.
After retiring from playing in South America, Ellis returned home to Shreveport,
Louisiana where he is presently the Assistant Principal at Oak Park Elementary
School and the Assistant Coach at Green Oaks High School. At age 33, he is married
to wife, Sharon and has one son, Corey.
Cedric B. Ellis chose to become a mentor for the 100 Men of Shreveport
so that he could give back something to the community. Because of his profession,
Ellis is looked upon as a role model for children. Being able to share his time
and wisdom means a lot to him. He strives to continue to be a model citizen for
children today.
